The time is almost here as we are all ready to meet Ridgefield at the airport and have a week full of fun learning, advneture, and making new friends! Our first learning lesson is that contrary to what many tourist think showing up here the country is called Costa Rica not Puerto Rico. The second lesson is that Costa Rica is not an island!
Ok now that we have the basics done with and I'm being serious we really do have world travelers that get these facts mixed up but fortunately for you Ridgefield kids never fall into that category.
Diego and I are very excited to show these kids some of our favorite adventures and meet some of the happiest people on the planet. Did you know Costa Rica was voted as being the happiest country on the planet 2 out of the last 4 years. (I think the voting is usually around the time of the Ridgefield tour when we present the kids with a batch of Chocolate chip cookies) The Voting is based on life-expectancy, conservation of their land, and lifestyle. One of my favorite parts of the trip is visting the rural village of Sitio de Mata. These kids really don't have much but they have it all. They are surrounded by lush tropical mountains, a smoking volcano, and one of the top 3 most scenic rivers on the planet is in their backyard. They are glowing with happiness and thrilled to share it with their new friends.
Well thats the morning ramble and we will confirm arrival with a picture at the airport and then a local lunch at La Garita one of my favorite places for rice and beans. They have been serving the same dish for the last 12 years and it never gets old.
Looking forward to your comments! Thank you all for the opportunity to share Costa Rica with your kids and I promise you they are in good hands and we will do everything to keep them safe and having fun from start to finish!
PURA VIDA,
Tom
